Item# 3000492

The Flatbed Starter Kit for Steel Hauling provides everything needed to begin securing and protecting steel and other metal products on flatbed trailers from moisture, road debris, and grime. This bundle includes Steel Tarps, Grade 70 Transport Chains, Corner Protectors, Rubber Tarp Straps, Load Straps, and more!

One of the biggest risks for flatbed operators transporting metal products is exposure to moisture and during the winter months exposure to road salt that can cause damage or even destroy certain types of steel and metal material. This can lead to rejected loads, costly insurance claims, or even loss of repeat business.

Heavy Duty Steel Tarps are made from 18 oz Heavy Duty PVC-coated material that is waterproof, durable, and specifically designed to protect your load from outside elements while on the road. 18 oz PVC material is made from a 1000×1000 denier base material and offers the highest protection and durability against sharp edges.

Kit Includes:
(2) – 16’ x 27’ Heavy Duty Steel Tarp – This steel tarp measures 16 feet wide and 27 feet long and weighs approximately 74 lbs per tarp. This tarp is made from our heavy-duty 18 oz PVC coated material which adds additional protection and durability to ensure your cargo is protected and your tarp has a longer product lifespan. Includes two rows of reinforced d-rings 24 inches apart for various securement points using rubber tarp straps to secure the tarp to the flatbed trailer. For complete coverage and protection of your load on 53-foot flatbed trailers it requires two steel tarps.

(8) – 5/16” x 20’ Grade 70 Transport Chain with Grab Hooks – Includes 20 feet of 5/16-inch G70 transport chain with grab hooks at the end of each chain. Every 7th chain link is stamped G70 so that you know what your chain is safely rated for and comply with the Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations for cargo control. This chain has a safe working load limit of 4,700 lbs per chain.

(8) – 5/16” x 3/8” Ratchet Load Binder – Included with our steel hauling flatbed kit is our 5/16” x 3/8” Load Binder that has a 5,400 lbs working load limit rating and is compatible with our 5/16” x 20’ transport chains with grab hooks. Ratchet Load Binders are much safer and easier to control than alternative lever binders.

(16) – Steel Corner Protectors – Steel corner protectors are made from steel and have an interior rubber lining to protect the metal you are securing from damage when tightening and to prevent tie-down straps from being cut from sharp metal edges.

(50) – 21-inch Rubber Tarp Straps – 21-inch rubber tarp straps are the most commonly used size of tarp straps used to secure flatbed tarps to the trailer for transport.
