E Track Rail Systems for Cargo Control
E Track Rail systems have become an important part of the cargo control industry for securing cargo in enclosed trailers, moving vans, and dry van trailers. This is due to increasing demand for a safe and efficient way for consumers and professionals to transport cargo. One of the reasons behind the popularity of e track rail systems is the flexibility of providing multiple anchor points along the rails that allow you to secure your cargo where you need it or from angles that work best.
E Track can be installed horizontally, vertically, or even a combination of both depending on the type of cargo you are securing and what works best for your securement needs. E Track Rails can be installed in sections or the length of the trailer depending on how you plan on using the rails.
E Track is made from heavy-duty 12 gauge steel with a 50,000 psi minimum yield construction to help provide heavy-duty strength and added durability. The rails are available in a black or galvanized coating finish to help prevent rust and protect them from heavy usage. E Track rails have numerous areas where you can quickly attach E Track Straps, E Track Bars, or E Track Accessories along the rails to find the ideal securement location or angle to secure your cargo.

Horizontal E Track Rails
Horizontal E Track Rails are installed inside enclosed trailers and moving vans horizontally and are generally used to secure cargo or personal belongings from one destination to the next. Once a horizontal e-track has been installed along the walls or flooring you can easily find the ideal securement location and angle for securing your cargo.
Horizontal e track runs parallel to the floor and offers multiple securement points along the rails to use e track straps, e track shoring beams, or e track accessories. Horizontal e track rails can also be installed in pairs or rows to create different securement locations from different heights which can be ideal for professionals securing cargo of varying sizes daily.
Horizontal e track rails are made from 50,000 psi minimum 12-gauge steel construction and come with an optional black or galvanized finish which helps to prevent rust and corrosion. Sold in 5-foot or 10-foot wide horizontal e track sections and can be cut down to smaller sizes or installed together to run the entire length of your trailer or moving van.
Horizontal works best for securement applications such as securing furniture, pallets, stacked boxes, vehicles, ATVs, side-by-sides, motorcycles, dirt bikes, golf carts, and more. E track rails are only as strong as the walls or flooring so you should always refer to your owner’s manual to determine the best way to install them and the safe working load limit ratings.

Vertical E Track Rails
Vertical E Track Rails are installed inside mainly enclosed trailers or dry vans and are used to shore cargo to prevent cargo from tipping over and causing damage. This can be done by installing vertical e track on the left and right interior walls and using e track shoring beams designed specifically to use the strength of the interior walls to hold cargo in place from the front to rear of the enclosed trailer.
Shoring stacked boxes, pallets, and other top-heavy cargo in place helps reduce damage claims and injury when opening dry van trailer dock doors as a load shift could otherwise cause the cargo to fall out the rear of the trailer when unloading. You can also use our Dunnage Bags to stabilize cargo from side to side by filling the dunnage bags with air that presses the cargo against the walls until you reach the next destination.
On top of the vertical e track being able to shore cargo, it can also be used to secure cargo using the same great e track straps used on our horizontal e track rails. This can be ideal if you need to secure taller cargo such as refrigerators, bookshelves, or other general cargo.
The Different Types of E Track Straps
E Track Tie Down Straps are designed to secure cargo using E Track Rail systems. One of the types is E Track Ratchet Straps and the other is E Track Cam Buckle Straps. Both types of e track straps can secure cargo once latched into e track but there are a few subtle differences between the two.
E Track Ratchet Straps
E Track Ratchet Straps are generally stronger and more rigid than e track cam buckle straps and are used for cargo that is heavier in physical weight. E Track Ratchet Straps are tightened into place using ratchet hardware that flows in one direction with every crank of the ratchet hardware when tightening until you have reached the desired tightness.
E Track Ratchet Straps are color-coded to indicate the length of webbing as an industry standard Yellow is 12 feet long, Gray is 16 feet long, and Blue is 20 feet long. E Track Ratchet Straps are one of the best ways to ensure that once your cargo is tightened into place it does not move out of place or become unsecured until you reach the next destination.
Trucking Depot can help you make the ideal custom made e track ratchet strap in-house at our location in Bellville, Ohio. Choose an optional webbing color, length, and ratchet hardware style. For orders over 100 pieces, we can stencil your company branding onto our 2-inch e-track straps to raise branding awareness or prevent theft. E Track Cam Buckle Straps
E Track Cam Buckle Straps are more forgiving for fragile cargo or antiques than alternative E Track Ratchet Straps as they use hand strength to pull the webbing to reach the desired strength. E Track Cam Buckle Straps tend to be quicker at securing cargo which can help save professionals time so they can get back on the road.
E Track Cam Buckle Straps also have a color-coded length as an industry standard with yellow being 12-foot, gray being 16-foot, and blue being 20 feet long. If you aren’t finding the ideal options for your specific application needs we can custom-make this e-track for you with optional length of webbing, color, and for those interested with custom stenciling for those interested in printing their company name onto the polyester tie-down webbing.
Polyester tie-down webbing is the industry standard type of webbing blend for cargo control applications as it provides ultimate strength, great durability, minimal stretching, and protection against direct sunlight and moisture which are a few of the reasons that otherwise could cause damage to your tie-down strap.

E Track Load Shoring Beams
E Track Load Shoring Beams are bars designed to latch into installed e track rail systems to prevent stacked boxes, pallets, or top-heavy cargo from tipping over and causing damage. Shoring Beams can also help reduce the chance of injury when unloading and opening the dock doors of the trailer which otherwise could fall out of the rear of the trailer or onto the driver.
E Track Shoring Beams come in two different materials with steel being the standard option or heavy-duty aluminum which provides added strength and durability. Aluminum E Track Shoring Beams are made with a 25% higher strength rating than our steel shoring beams and have 3,000 lbs breaking strength distributed equally over the beams.
As cargo can vary greatly in weight, height, and shape the number and placement of beams may vary from load to load. We stock these beams in our 93 inches to 103 inches size but also have a wide selection of other sizes to fit your moving van, dry van, enclosed trailer, or reefer trailer.

Frequently Asked E Track Questions
What Colors Do E Track Rails Come In? – The two main colors of e track rails for horizontal and vertical e track are powder coated in black or in galvanized steel as the two main options based on availability. These are based on personal preference but both e track rails offer the same great protection.
Can you drive vehicles over these without crushing them? – Yes, these are heavy duty and it will not hurt them by having vehicles, ATVs motorcycles, or cargo going over them. We have heard many customer success stories from professional automotive shippers who have never had any issues using our e track.
How Long of E Track Do I Need for my Trailer? – Ultimately, you will want to first determine what kind of cargo you are going to be working with. If you are someone who ships often or someone who may have a wide variety of cargo you will want to give yourself wiggle room with more anchor points than the rails provide.
If you are doing the same application over and over only then you can get away with a smaller amount of rails in a more fixed location. Our normal orders are generally enough e track rails for the entire trailers’ needs, but on occasion, we get bikers who are only using several pieces to keep their bikes tied down during the next adventure.
How Long Does E Track Last? – This can greatly change based on the amount of use as well as the weight of the cargo but generally you can expect e track to last more than several years for most customers. Some professional truck drivers or professional movers who ship heavy cargo several times a day may expect something slightly less.
However, as long as the e track is secured properly and the e track and straps are still in good condition is no short-term lifespan and we have heard of stories from several customers lasting over ten years.
