The finger hook attached directly to the ratchet makes for a very short ratchet end where space is limited. Works well with car tie downs. The ratcheting mechanism functions by opening and closing the handle repeatedly to pull the webbing through the fastener. Release the tension by depressing the release lever and pulling the webbing back through the mandrel.
